Warm waters
It happened
in a seaside that I’ve always used to go to. Right from when I was small.
One day I
was just lying down on the seaside, sunbathing. That’s when he came.
I didn’t
notice how he came, as my eyes were closed. Suddenly I just felt him stand in
front of me.
I opened my
eyes and there he stood.
„Sorry, I
didn’t mean to disturb you. “He said.
„That’s
alright, “I told him „Who are you? “
„My name’s
Benny, my friends just call me Ben. “
„Well,
hello Ben, “I responded.
That’s how
we met.
The weather
forecast had warned us about a hurricane. That it can mean very large waves. He
just shrugged and gently led me forth.
I knew that
it could be dangerous, but his calmness encouraged me.
We walked
amongst the seaside. He didn’t talk much. Neither did I. We just walked. I felt
like in a flow of water. It was real and right. It still is.
Eventually,
when we had been walking there for an hour or so he asked:
“Want to go
swimming?”
“But it’s
stormy…” I tried to argue,
“Come,” he
said calmly.
He took my
hand, so I went with him.
We swam in
the stormy sea. I wasn’t scared at all. I was relaxed with him. He just is so…
trustworthy. One couldn’t doubt in his good personality.
He kept
moving deeper in the water with me. I didn’t resist.
Waves kept
getting bigger, so eventually we started moving back towards the shore. We were
barely at the shore, when the storm really got bad.
The waves
were rushing towards him. In that moment I saw him do something that I would
have never done. He stopped and smiled towards me, promise in his face.
On the very
next moment he was consumed by the waves. I was shocked, but I was pulled away
and out of danger.
I had been
thinking long about what he thought on that day. I wouldn’t have thought that I
would get an answer, but I did.
One day
when I was once again at the seaside I was restless. I couldn’t get him out of
my head.
Like a
revelation he rose out of the waves.
I had
nothing to say, but he simply said to me: „Come. “
He took my
hand and off we went. Off towards the sea. We became the sea…
